roundupFor over the past year Florida has been plagued with a massive Red Tide bloom on the Gulf Coast side. While is a natural occurrence, this version has been anything but natural and it is having a profoundly negative effect on the environment, the animals, and the human population.

Red tide itself will generally cause respiratory issues such as coughing, sneezing, watery eyes, and difficulty breathing when near the water. The effects are annoying, but usually temporary and go away when you are no longer in contact. Thanks to the water releases from Lake Okeechobee this year and years past, the Gulf and our inland waterways are being fed with pollutants from big corporations such as US Sugar. That includes the saturation of Monsanto’s RoundUp Herbicide/Pesticide which contains the controversial ingredient glyphosate. Glyphosate, though still touted by the USDA and FDA as GRAS (Generally Rated As Safe), numerous studies and health reports contradict that saying otherwise that it is a neurotoxin and a carcinogen.
Natures way of trying to fight the contaminated water is with the blue-green algae we are seeing in mass sheets coating the water all throughout Southwest Florida. in itself is a biotoxin. It is cyanobacteria. It releases cyanotoxin. Cyanotoxin while in the water, can become airborne just as the red tide brevetoxin particles do. When aerosolized, these particles along with the RoundUp which is toxic as well, carry through the air up to ten miles inland so you do not even have to go to the beach to be exposed. This is a toxic cocktail that is killing our manatees, dolphins, birds, fish, and deteriorating the health of our residents.
Symptoms of toxicity can include but are not limited to:
Brevetoxin (Red Tide) Exposure: Gastrointestinal symptoms include abdominal pain, vomiting, and diarrhea. Neurologic signs and symptoms include paresthesias, reversal of hot and cold temperature sensation, vertigo, and ataxia. Inhalational exposure may cause respiratory symptoms such as a cough, dyspnea, and bronchospasm.
Cyanotoxin and Myostine Exposure: A wide range of symptoms associated with recreational exposure to cyanobacteria have been described: desquamation, skin rashes, asthma, pneumonia, dry sporadic cough with vomiting and other gastrointestinal symptoms, hay fever, conjunctivitis, ear and eye irritation, allergic reactions, and acute illnesses.Blurred vision.
Confusion and disorientation, Difficulty breathing, Drooling, Excessive tearing, Fever,
Low blood pressure (hypotension), Loss of muscle control and muscle twitching.
Organophosphate Exposure (RoundUp and other herbicides and pesticides):
Mild organophosphate exposure may cause:
  • An unrelenting headache
  • narrowed, pinpointed pupils
  • impaired, blurry vision
  • stinging eyes
  • runny nose
  • watery eyes
  • excess saliva
  • glassy eyes
  • nausea
  • muscle weakness
  • muscle twitching
  • agitation
Moderate signs of organophosphate exposure include:
  • very narrowed pupils
  • sneezing
  • dizziness
  • disorientation
  • coughing and wheezing
  • muscle weakness
  • fatigue
  • difficulty breathing
  • drooling or excessive phlegm
  • muscle twitching and tremors
  • severe vomiting and diarrhea
  • involuntary urination and defecation
  • Unbearable head pain that does not go away over time
Emergency signs of organophosphate poisoning include:
  • very narrowed pupils
  • confusion
  • agitation
  • convulsions
  • excessive body secretions, including sweat, saliva, mucus, and tears
  • irregular heartbeat
  • collapse
  • respiratory depression or arrest
  • coma
Organophosphate poisoning can cause several serious complications:
  • metabolic disorders, such as hyperglycemia (high blood sugar) and glycosuria (excess sugar in urine)
  • diabetic ketoacidosis
  • pancreatitis
  • cancer
  • neurological problems, such as muscle weakness and twitching, poor concentration, poor memory, and post-traumatic stress disorder
  • fertility problems
  • paralysis
  • depression
  • anxiety
Doctors have been puzzled at the array of symptoms patients have presented because they can mimic so many other health issues. Even the most well-meaning highly educated physician may not think to test you for organophosphate poisoning as that has been a test generally reserved for workers who come in direct contact with pesticides and herbicides over the years. This is where you need to be proactive in your own treatment. If you are exhibiting any of the symptoms of neurotoxin poisoning its a test that could very well save your life.
HOW TO DIAGNOSE:
The test is called Cholinesterase RBC and Plasma
. Its a blood test that can be done at most labs and if ordered by your doctor should fall under your insurance coverage. It is important to note that many labs have the values set incorrectly and you may get a result that comes back in normal range colored green.it states “Level correlation with toxicity – Even with the more accurate RBC cholinesterase, the point at which various authors have suggested that toxicity begins to appear ranges from 40% to 75% of normal values. (Carlton, Simpson et al. 1998) (Romano, McDonough et al. 2001; Clark 2002)” Which means your good to go green level reading is quite possibly incorrect.
Once you have these results and you do see that your body has reached a toxic level of exposure it is vital to do a neurotoxin liver cleanse. Please seek the help of a Toxicologist or trained physician as soon as possible.
